Gretna Green

Gretna Green

Gretna Green was a very lucky find, found because of a phone call from our farrier asking if Anna could go and try one of his ponies to see if it could jump. The pony could and we brought him but we also noticed a large chestnut mare in a barn. She was double branded Westphalian, which immediately drew our attention. We were told she had been sent to Italy to get her in foal but that she was barren and unable to conceive. We brought her after Anna, (even though she was knee high to a grasshopper then) jumped her over a 1.40 oxer. We collected her a week later and that night she aborted an approximate 6 month foetus. We consequently put her in foal to Grannex and she took the first time, we then went about trying to track her breeding. After many telephone calls we found out that she had been bred at a very large stud in Germany, had a foal at 4 years old, (this mare Pilot Project proceeded to reach the equivalent of Grade A and had a colt Christoph Columbus, that has gone on to be a top stallion in Germany and recently won the Stuttgart Masters) Pilot Project also had a filly who as a 4 year old produced the colt Carrick who is also a very good stallion in Germany.

After having Pilot Project Gretna was produced for jumping, she reached a high level as a 5 and 6 year old and was sold to Italy for a large sum of money. She jumped very well in Italy with many winnings until she was sold to an amateur rider who started jumping Grand Prix with her as a 7 year old. After he realised that he did not have enough experience he sent Gretna to Ireland to be put in foal to a top Irish stallion, he was informed that she would never get in foal and that is how she ended up with a bunch of Irish dealer horses. She has subsequently produced some wonderful foals for us and has always proved to be a total lady in everything she does. Mind you she has a sense of humour, she is 27 years old now and a few months ago our groom came in from the field and said that Gretna was really bad and could hardly walk, we immediately phoned the vet, thinking that he would have to put her down. We walked down to where Gretna was stood, the vet asked our groom to walk her in a straight line, our groom replied you will be lucky, she can hardly stand, with which Gretna took off at an extended trot, dragging poor Jimmy in her wake!

Graine de Quito

Graine de Quito

Graine was purchased from Judy Ross, who has bred some wonderful competition horses. She wanted to cut down on breeding stock and we were fortunate to be able to purchase Graine.
Graine is a big roomy mare with a lovely temperament, she competed up to about 1.30 with Judy and then had a couple of foals. We are excited to see how her first foal with us turns out, she is a dark brown filly with white legs and moves beautifully, she is by our stallion Zip Phin.

Weston Warmbloods broodmare Super de Luxe

Super de Luxe

Luxy was purchased though Edward Bleekman of Whorridge Farm Stud, we were looking for a nice mare with very good breeding, particularly the mother line. Our intention was that she would have a foal, then be broken in and produced. She was put in foal to Phin Phin and duly produced a stunning colt. When we brought Super de Luxe, Andre from De Radstakke who knew her through her breeder F. Ramaker, asked that if she ever had a colt foal we could give him first refusal. The mother line from Super de Luxe is exceptional, this mother line is the line that De Radstakke have based their breeding on and is present in many of their top stallions. Due to the exceptional foals she is producing Super de Luxe only competed for one year before being put back in foal.

Wimke WH

Wimke was a very exciting find with breeding papers that would make any Show Jumping Breeder very envious! With Voltaire, Burggraaf and Nimmerdor to name but a few. She has already produced an outstanding Colt registered with the KWPN called Chiron WH who is now 3 years old and this year has produced an exquisite filly by No Limit. With an outstanding jump, beautiful looks, sweet temperament and her breeding she is a huge asset to the stud with many of her mare line competing at 1.60.

Balou Bless - Weston Warmbloods Broodmare

Balou Bless

BALOU BLESS is a homebred mare out of the same Mother as Zip Phin. Bless had a foal at the age of 4 and has since been broken and attended a handful of shows proving to be an exceptional talent with an incredibly athletic jump but with a certain sharpness from her Father!! Bless likes nothing more than to be turned out in the school loose with a course of jumps which she will quite happily jump around all day long making her own little courses up as she goes!
